HOW TO DIY IT
This isn’t as easy as it looks. I admit I had to swap out some pieces that I originally intended to use. The trick to creating a collection that feels fun for work, but is also versatile is to have a good mix of neutral basics, colors, and prints. Here’s some additional tips on how to do it on your own in case you prefer to shop for different pieces or do it with the clothes you already have in your closet.
Use a similar formula
Here was the formula I used:
Outerwear X 2: 1 color blazer or vest, 1 neutral blazer or vest.
Tops X 2: 1 white (or cream), 1 black (or navy). *choose the best colors for your complexion.
Bottoms X 3: 1 color pant, 1 color skirt, 1 neutral print pant.
One piece X1: 1 Neutral dress or jumpsuit.
Shoes X2: 1 color flat, 1 neutral print flat.
Pair everything easily by choosing the right colors
If you can create more that 12 looks with this formula, go for it! The trick with pairing easily is to pair a neutral print or solid pieces with a color print or color solid. That way you don’t have to worry about if colors go good together. * Pro tip: Black goes really well with brighter colors. Those outfits are always going to work better.
Play with layering and non-layering
An outfit will look completely different when it has an added layer vs. no layer, so don’t undermine the power of that.
& That’s all folks! Hope this helps you create something similar and take all of the frustrations of dressing for work away. If this is helpful, please don’t hesitate to DM me and let me know. I love hearing how I helped you all and I love seeing my tips put into action.
